EMPLOYEES
The employees play an important role in achieving the objectives of the Whistleblower Act. Employees often receive information about potential abuses at an early stage, but only reported information will help in intervening in the issue.
Whistleblower protection concerns both private sector and public sector employees who, regardless of the nature of their duties, may have become informed of a suspected breach or misconduct in connection with their work.
Read more about the topic with the help of digital Whistleblower Act training. This means you will be better prepared to face challenges and protect both yourself and others.
Read below what benefits can be achieved by active reporting!
Reports can be submitted on abuses related to such things as public procurement, product safety or environmental protection. By reporting your observations, you will do your part to strengthen society into one where there is no place for those benefiting from abuse. This is in all our interests.
Previously, the position of employees who reported irregularities has been unclear. The employee who reported their observations has not always received effective protection. As a result, employees may have suffered for submitting such a report, for example by losing their job or reputation.
Under the Whistleblower Act, employees who report irregularities in accordance with the law will be protected from any retaliation.
Employees have the opportunity to submit a confidential report of any abuses they have observed. The organisation that receives the report must take action to address the abuse. Reports can be used at an early stage to address abuses and minimise the damage caused by them. Withholding of information will only benefit the wrongdoer.
It is easier for everyone to report any irregularities or abuses they have observed when they do not have to be afraid of getting into the trouble themselves. A knowledge that the report will lead to an investigation will also encourage employees to report abuses. Support the strengthening of a transparent operating culture by using the internal reporting channel if necessary.
The Whistleblowing Act provides protection against retaliation. This means that no negative consequences, such as discrimination or dismissal, may be imposed on a person who submits a report under the law.
