Work against corruption

Corruption can be combated and prevented by increasing openness, awareness of corruption, and cooperation between different actors. A successful fight against corruption requires a joint effort of several authorities and other actors. The Ministry of Justice is the coordinating authority in Finland.

Finland has acceded to several international anti-corruption conventions. Many international organisations have conducted evaluations regarding Finland and issued recommendations on the further anti-corruption measures Finland should undertake.

It is important that research data on the different forms of corruption and their prevalence be collected on a regular basis. Research helps ensure that bodies engaged in anti-corruption work have access to up-to-date information and can focus their efforts on the right things.
