Training focusing on this theme helps people understand the importance of exposing illegal activities and the rights of reporting persons. Training provides information on the contents of the Act and how it protects reporting persons in practice. An understanding of the Whistleblower Act also helps to avoid illegal activities and to ensure that organisations comply with the law and ethical standards. The Ministry of Justice has launched a training project to enhance knowledge of the Whistleblower Act. During 2024, the project will provide free training on the themes covered in the Act to persons processing reports submitted by whistleblowers, employees and the management of different organisations.

Training creates trust in the work environment as employees learn that they will be protected against retaliation if they report fraud or abuse. Training on the theme helps both individuals and organisations to comply with legislation and ethical practices. The training project was co-financed by the EU Internal Security Fund.

Raising awareness contributes to addressing abuses

The Whistleblower Act training project of the Ministry of Justice initiated the Whistleblower protection training in March 2024. This practical training was open to everyone, and it provided the both experts and personnel of different organisations with important information about the importance of the Whistleblower Act and the role of whistleblowers.

The Whistleblower Act makes it easier to detect and report misconduct in the work environment. The legislation provides for a secure and confidential channel for submitting reports and offers whistleblowers protection from any countermeasures. Employees should know what to do when they observe infringements.

The training provided a high-quality review of the key concepts of the Whistleblower Act and helped to identify the situations to which the legislation is applied. In addition, it clarified the matters which, when reported, may fall under whistleblower protection. The training answered questions of who receives protection and what the whistleblowing process is like. By learning more about the Whistleblower Act, employees can identify their own rights and be encouraged to report any misconduct they observe.
